Abstract—This paper presents areversible data hiding method for JPEG images by combining (7, 4)theHamming codeand improvingHuang et al.’s data hiding technique. Huang et al.’s original method embeds data into JPEG quantized 8×8 block DCT coefficients by histogram shifting and alternating current (AC) coefficients with values of 1 and -1 to embedsecret bits. The proposed method here adopts a hybrid embedding strategy to increase maximum embeddingcapacity. The experimental results show that the proposed method allows for maximum embeddingcapabilitywhile maintaining acceptable image quality.
Index Terms—Histogram shifting, Joint photographic experts group (jpeg), reversible data hiding, (7, 4) hamming CODE.
