Abstract—In this paper, we present the design, implementation and experimental evaluation of an advanced network analyzer called CableFish. Indeed, the system functions are accomplished on an only one off-the-shelf and cost-effective computer (centralized processing), and permits online and offline analysis. Almost current challenges, such as flexibility, performance (resource usage) and optimization are taken into consideration. The experimental evaluation of CableFish system was performed through a comparison to WireShark, the most popular network traffic analyzer, and Carmen, the network traffic analyzer used by BMW.
Index Terms—Software architecture, network diagnose, traffic analysis systems.
